Synopsis of production
Two interwoven monologues from a longer piece exploring the lives of women living in the laundry hill area of Brighton from 1880 to 2020.
NB The scratch nights will be expenses paid; the full production is profit share.
Dot (40s) – Dot’s husband owns a laundry that was involved in the 1950 smallpox epidemic. She struggles to keep it going and to rebuild morale after some of the laundry workers are affected, and her husband withdraws.
Tasha (25-35) – Single and pregnant, Tasha returns to her now empty family home to deal with her mother’s estate. She sees the area – and her life – through fresh eyes. Tasha serves as partial narrator.
Self tapes by 10th Nov; in person call backs 13th Nov.
